In this section, processions and perambulations I have visited will be posted. There is a difference between a procession and a perambulation. A procession is a prayer tour, while a perambulation shows more. Such a tour includes images of saints, faithful laypeople, and clergy. The participants in the procession traverse part of the path of faith, thereby expressing their beliefs. The procession proceeds as a religious ceremony and takes the form of a parade.
A procession displays a colourful variety of religious and cultural aspects. This includes representations such as, among others, the miraculous image of Our Lady. Participants include, for instance, clergy, nobles, soldiers, flag bearers, declaimers and costumed figures. A procession can further be enriched with floats, giants, choirs, musical ensembles and animals such as horses, donkeys and sheep. Through a procession, a city shows its soul.
Processions have existed for centuries and originated from the veneration of relics.
I wish you much pleasure in reading and watching.
