History
The farmer's wife Aloisia Lex (1907-1984) experienced apparitions and received revelations for over 10 years. This unassuming woman raised her children and worked on the farm. Miracles occurred, such as unexpected conversions, unexplainable healings, extraordinary events, and a cross formed in the grass. The origin of this cross is inexplicable. From 1956 to 1992, the cross regularly appeared at the location where Mary had come. This cross was not only seen by Aloisia but also by others. The imprint of the cross remained visible in the grassland. The cross in the sky was also seen after the death of Aloisia Lex.
In September 1954, Aloisia's youngest daughter, Anne-Marie, sees the Heavenly Father in the place where the cross appeared in the grass in 1956. On the evening of 13th October 1955, Aloisia Lex sees a snow-white figure in the place where the cross appears in 1956. In 1955, Aloisia Lex falls gravely ill. On 8th October 1955, she has a vision of Our Lady and is healed. In 1956, on 6th September, early in the morning, Aloisia Lex has a miraculous apparition of an angel, who marks the spot where the cross appears in the grass. She sees the crucified Lord life-size, alive with bleeding wounds. Jesus opens His eyes, smiles and says: “Your sins, those of your family members and deceased parents are forgiven.” Jesus then closes His eyes, shrinks, and disappears. In the afternoon, while eating lunch, Aloisia goes into the vegetable garden, crosses the grassland and sees the image of a cross in the ground. On 14th September 1956, on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the mysterious cross has fully appeared in the grass.
Further wondrous events occur. In 1959 there is a flower miracle. On a warm summer's day, a wilted tulip is found on the street and then placed by the cross. After a few minutes, the flower blooms. Another flower miracle in the same year: a rose bush is planted next to the cross in the meadow. In autumn the plant wilts, but in early winter buds appear on the branches. From December 1959 to February 1960, the bush blooms continuously and this at temperatures of more than 10 degrees of frost. This repeats itself a year later. The bush is picked by pilgrims and nothing is left of it.
In the period 1956-1960, Aloisia Lex often saw luminous crosses in the sky multiple times a day. She frequently saw visions of Mary as a comforter, and even in 1958, on the centenary of the apparitions in Lourdes, France.
On 27 May 1965, just after sunrise, Aloisia Lex sees the sky suddenly darken and a luminous cross appears.
Our Lady appeared to Aloisia Lex on 18th October 1967 and said that the world was heading for a terrible atomic war, which would bring disaster and destruction.
On 2 February 1968, Candlemas Day, Aloisia Lex sees a large star in the sky.
On the orders of Our Lady, Aloisia Lex says that sun miracles are coming. These are admonishments from heaven to sinful humanity to acknowledge the cross in the grass. In 1968, there were three sun miracles, namely on March 19th, March 23rd, and August 15th. Each time, the sun displayed various colours, spun on its axis, and emitted rays. In addition, a shining cross appeared in the blue sky. Hundreds of people witnessed these events. Chaplain Josef Lagler from Vienna was a witness to extraordinary events with Aloisia Lex, such as sun miracles and a host stuck in the mouth with a visible crucifix beneath it. There were also messages from Mary to Aloisia Lex for the chaplain. The chaplain must remain strong when God's punitive judgement comes.
On 20 August 1968, Jesus tells Aloisia Lex that priests fight against every apparition and reject the Holy Cross.
On 6 November 1968, Aloisia Lex voluntarily underwent examination in Innsbruck, Schubertstrasse 18, accompanied by theologian Father Ritter von Lama, as there were considerable doubts regarding what she was seeing and experiencing. Aloisia underwent a psychological test administered by Prof. Dr. Vinzenz E. Neubauer (1899-1983). The examination concluded that Aloisia Lex was a simple, down-to-earth, and business-minded woman, and this without any extraordinary constitution of the soul.
On 8th December 1968, the day of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, Our Lady says; “It is sad that clergy here, in this place of grace, do not want to be convinced of my apparitions and of the Holy Cross in the grass.”
PILGRIMAGE SITE
In the parish church of St. Martin an der Raab, which was built between 1746 and 1747, Aloisia Lex and others observed changes to the statues of Our Lady and Jesus. Mary's gaze is sometimes gentle and directed downwards, and at other times a face full of sorrow and directed upwards. Jesus' gaze is mild one moment, and severe the next. Subsequently, the statues were removed from the church by the pastor.
Upon entering the site of the apparitions, a sign warns that this is a place of prayer and that visitors are expected to show reverence.
In the Garden of Apparitions in Eisenberg an der Raab, the spot where the holy cross was in the ground is surrounded by a fence. A sign provides information about 6 and 14 September 1956. On 6 September 1956, a mighty angel of God marks the site on the lawn where the holy cross will appear. On 14 September 1956, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, the mysterious cross is fully revealed. Miraculous conversions and sudden healings explain this magnificent event. There is healing in the cross.

The mysterious cross of Eisenberg is sadly no more. However, the chapel where Aloisia Lex often prayed and where many statues stand still remains. The statues are behind a heavy, iron gate. The chapel also has many wooden benches, and framed photographs hang on the walls.
At the site where the holy cross once stood, there are many benches from the 1960s and 70s of the last century. The number of visitors was high at that time.

Experience
It's Sunday afternoon and I'm in St. Martin an der Raab church. There's a service taking place, attended by 25 churchgoers. At the end of the Eucharist, I ask some of the older attendees if they know where the cross in the ground can be seen. In doing so, I refer to the special events of the 1950s and later in the last century. I also mention the name Aloisia Lex. They tell me how to find the place where apparitions have occurred.
Upon leaving the church, I am invited to have a drink and eat some biscuits, as everyone is partaking in this. I gladly accept the invitation. I know the seer is buried here, but where in the large cemetery next to the church. My question as to where Aloisia Lex lies receives a clear answer, and that saves me considerable searching. Furthermore, people do not speak of the apparitions, and I notice that.
When I stand by Aloisia Lex's grave, the history told to me comes to mind. This woman went through so much, such as apparitions and messages from Mary and Jesus. The seer also had to deal with opposition and disbelief from villagers. She was also mocked and despised by them. Afterwards, I go to the nearby village of Eisenberg an der Raab.
The visit to the apparition site shows how it was, but the cross in the ground has been removed and this space is fenced off. At the spot where the cross used to be, I strike up a conversation with two Austrians who visit here often. The man and woman tell me about this miraculous place and advise me to take a lot of photos. The two people from near Graz say it used to be very busy here, but not anymore. This is because the Catholic Church has spoken out very negatively about what happened, has urged people to let the incidents rest and to remain silent about them. The two Austrians say that there are only a few sites of great importance for the apparitions of Our Lady, and these are Fatima, Medjugorje, and here, Eisenberg an der Raab. These three apparition sites are very important because Mary gave messages there that matter. For me, it is important what happened here, to let it sink in, and then to be grateful to have gained this knowledge.
To conclude, I would like to visit the chapel, but unfortunately the door is closed.
I see Aloisia Lex as the conduit for divine revelations, with Jesus and Mary appearing to her on multiple occasions and speaking to her in German.
